Rotorua will host the Age Group Road National Championships in 2021, it was announced by Cycling New Zealand today.

The event, to be held on 16 to 18 April 2021. Age groups from under-15 to Seniors along with the leading Masters riders from 35 years to over 75 years including a number of world champions and former leading professional riders.

Rotorua is one of the country’s leading destinations for tourism as well as world-renowned mountain bike trails. It is also an amazing place to road ride.

“It is exciting that Cycling New Zealand will be bringing the age group road nationals to Rotorua,” said Rotorua Mayor, Steve Chadwick. “Rotorua has a long association with Cycling New Zealand around mountain biking and this is a great opportunity to showcase our destination for road cycling.”

The event will be hosted by Cycling Rotorua.

The club has proposed courses in and around the Waikite Valley which we believe offer some excellent areas for road cycling as well to ensure it is an enjoyable and safe event. The club will be incorporating the course in to Sunday bunch rides in the months preceding the event. Join us if you want to recon the route.

Courses will be finalised with Cycling New Zealand in the coming weeks with further details and entries expected to open early in 2021.
